Support for Veterans and Surviving Spouses
Millions of America’s seniors are veterans or the surviving spouses of veterans. As these heroes grow older, most wish to remain in the comfort of their own homes, surrounded by family, friends, and familiar surroundings.
What many don’t realize is that a valuable Veterans Administration benefit may help make that possible.
The VA Pension with Aid & Attendance benefit can provide financial assistance to eligible veterans and surviving spouses to help cover the cost of in-home care. Those who qualify may receive up to $25,525 per year to support their ability to remain independent at home.
Who Qualifies?
The Pension with Aid & Attendance benefit is available to veterans and surviving spouses who meet specific criteria. Importantly, the veteran does not need to have served overseas or in combat.
To Qualify, the Veteran Must Meet the Following Requirements:
- Have served at least 90 days of active duty
- Have served at least one day during an official wartime period
- Have received an honorable discharge
- Or be the surviving spouse of a qualifying wartime veteran
